Huge rust memory leak (game crash)

I just started playing rust again after having not played for over a year and every time I go to load into a world it gets right to the end of loading then my ram spikes to 100% as well as my page file then I get a message about windows being out of memory. I can tell it is using a lot of ram because on my second monitor I have a rainmeter widget for memory and cpu usage. I did manage to get into a game but I couldn't see any objects just their shadows.

Edit: And in one attempt my computer just reset itself for no reason.

The only other program I had running is skype and had a call running

Verified game files to make sure nothing is up with the install?

yes and deleted everything and reinstalled and still same issue.

just for kicks I installed rust on my laptop with an AMD A10 5745 and dual graphics and turned all the settings down and I can get into the game but with everything invisible all objects and players are invisible there too. I know this because I could hear someone run up on me and stab me and I died but I saw nothing.
