hello my home lan consists of 4 pcs, connected through an adsl modem router.

since the modem router has taken the place of the adsl modem + switch setup, there have been frequent "server not found" timeouts when websurfing or checking email.

the problem is occuring across the whole network and comes good every now and then but then later no one can open webpages again...

is this a fault of my isp or is there settings i can adjust locally which will fix the problem...
i dont think its a "timeout" problem as such but rather the router not communicating with the isp properly or something...

Go into the router interface page.Check to see if the router is getting an IP from your ISP and check the DHCP lease time from your ISP.If it looks good try resetting the router to see if that corrects the problem.Server not found sounds like a DNS issue Make sure you are getting the DNS server addresses from the ISP.

thx 4 the reply,

both ip and dns are from isp, dchp lease time isnt displayed nor configurable.

i will try rebooting the router next time the problem occurs but its not normal for it to happen so regularly right?
