I have tryed several distros over the years and have found strengths and weaknesses in most.
My preference is Red Hat (not Fedora). I first used RH 7.2 and still use 9.0 on my web server. I also have RHE 4 running which is what we use on the Job.

I guess we need a Red Hat Man in here.. I've used RedHat since......well since when I started using Linux. I have RH 9.0 running a web server. and am using RHE3 on a duel boot with XP.
I also like Slackware and have a box running it.

This depends on what you mean by better!
Solaris is Unix, If you want a desktop OS go with linux. If you want a powerful server, development distro. Try Solaris.
This all depends on what you are learning. Are you learning to be an End User or a Root Super User. An EndUser, go with Fedora! System Admin or Root User's will usally steer clear of using the Fedora projects for Production systems. Just not stable enough in my opinion. But a great thing for the...
