Drive imaging software

Does anyone know of a free program that will make exact image files of your hard drive? This is exactly what I need, but not for $50!

I want to take a "snapshot" of my system while it is running perfect and stable now so that if/when it crashes or something gets messed up, i can just restore the image and go back to the original state.

dd has been around almost as long as unix, it still works quite well

As said in post, I'm broke. I DID use google and didn't come up with much. Just wondering if anyone knew of anything freebies worth trying. Its no big deal... i'm not gonna pay money for it cause its just as easy for me to format and reinstall... just would be nice to have it done.

Drive Image is fussy when working under 64 bit envirorments.
