Hey all!
Just signed up and have a small problem. I recently got a new DVD-writer, a Phillips DVDR1640P. I know it's all attached internally fine because it WILL write in Linux. However in Windows XP Media Center, its strage. I have it as drive letter F but when i put a disk in to read it makes a new drive called X Called "CDROM" and when i click on the "DVD Drive" it says theres no disk in, when i try to write to a blank one, it says "Action Failed" i've tried many Burning programs but none work, anyone know why it will only work in Linux?

Well, just to head you off right there, Linux is not comparable to Windows. They are two totally different OS's. This is kinda like a person speaking German in Spain, and wondering why there's a problem. There both countries but your problem doesn't lay there.

Anyway, you might want to try one of two things:

1. Reinstall the drivers for that drive.

2. Remove the drive from the hardware manager and let Windows "discover" it new.
