    Vista -> XP

I hear ye'...1GB of RAM with Vista is unusable. I disabled everything - all animations, lowered the res, disabled aereo nonsense etc...but it made no difference. Then I bought a pair of gigs from Newegg... 2* 1GB, ended up costing $70 shipped. Now it works great... so if you can, just toss the...

Do Winamp's ads bother you? Nix'em.

I'm not too sure, but I think it's version 5.3 and above. It's in the Shoutcast area, among others, but I just use Shoutcast Radio. :D This is an example from the Winamp thread linked above, here. It's a nice flash banner that's ~1" tall. And if you have one of the host ad-blocking programs...

What you'd recommend for cost-effective cooling...

Ok...so a couple months later I ordered a couple tubes of MX-2 from Jab Tech - shipped the next day via Priority Mail in two days...woot! I like this place, hah. I wonder why so many shops were out of stock...(including MX-1)...is it that popular?! But trying to take the graphics card apart...

Do Winamp's ads bother you? Nix'em.

WMP is even worse with their ads - just playing a song for example, you get the nice CD advertisement. Music Match...boy, that has been awhile. I used that on my good 'ol HP nearly a decade back, and it led me to search for, and find, Winamp, so for whatever reason I didn't like it then...and...

Do Winamp's ads bother you? Nix'em.

What decent alternative is there? Enlighten me! :) Shoutcast is my main reason for using Winamp...and for it's easy editing of the ID3v1/2 tags (highlight the file and hit alt+3)...but I honestly haven't found another decent one.

Do Winamp's ads bother you? Nix'em.

I kind'o put the fairly new ads in Winamp/Shoutcast aside, ignoring them...but really, they get incredibly annoying when the ad takes time to load, and takes up half of the previously-viewable area. Nonetheless, I finally searched and found a simple solution...:) (Note, buying Winamp Pro will...

    100% cpu usage??

Possibly. Then again, you might be using a Elite Control System motherboard... Kill Limewire...does it still happen? If your using XP, what process does it say is consuming the CPU? (On the "Processes" tab, click the CPU column and look at the task at fault.)

Have a Palm? Bored? Be an artist...or something!

For anyone interested, NinerPaint is freakin' awesome for idle time. Doodle a little, draw up a quick animation - heck, make yourself or other friends a sig. and/or avatar... The usual Palm software price of $13, but the interface is intuitive (aren't they all?) and you get lets of...

    questions about Java programming

Hmm, o'course it is, since that phrase should never be used. It could be a constant reference, pointer, value, number... but not a variable, as you pointed out!

    What is the Best PDA?

Have you decided on one yet? I've owned a PPC for just over 6 months, and a Palm IIIc and T|X for just over two years. The bottom lines are: The PocketPC has more power - you can access the file system with ease, configure your "desktop", etc... but the Palm is the real organizer. It is quite...

    Pocket PC help....

You can do a hard reset with some combination of buttons - what model? (HP/Dell etc. generally provide the manual on their websites, and that'd be how you find the right combo for sure.)

    questions about Java programming

What void said, but in addition, with Java, constants will be tagged with the "final" keyword. Eg: public static final String numberPattern = "0123456789"; Then with variables, they are (in some sense) everything without the "final" keyword. Eg: private String hi = "hi"; Integer zero = new...

    game help...

No offense, but I hope you're kidding... I mean, you could have an infinite loop opening new windows written in AutoIt! Programming languages are not universal, yet. :freak: So, feel free to enlighten us if you really want help. :)

Wireless ... any ideas on how to get it going?

To bump da' thread a bit after some time, I'm sure this is easy for anyone somewhat familiar with Linux - when I run "iwlist scan", I can see my (encrypted) network and the neghibors (unencrypted) network. Can anyone tell me either how to connect / test a connection from the console, and/or...

    Javascript help needed

Of the billion ways to do it (give or take a few!), this is probably the most straight-forward way to do it: onfocus="if (this.value=='Name') this.value='';"
