    Shotgun vs case...

K, if you're going to use the shotgun, here's some advice. The panel for the side of your computer is pretty weak, and may buckle under the punch of the blast. Put a wooden board (the thicker, the better) behind the panel to support it (bracing it a bit would help too). This will allow the...

    new windows installation

Had that happen to me, turns out it my memory was shot. It could be that or some other type of system instability. Try running memtest for a while and see if anything comes up.

    alright, psu to mobo?

YES! Definitely use all power connectors and both you and your mobo will be much happier

    Is this all compatible?

PSU is insufficient for that mobo. Need at least 480W/native 24 pins

    Higher budget

PSU? It's one of the most important considerations with that mobo... And yeah, there's reports that some Maxtor HDD's don't play nice with the Lanparty's.

What do think of this set-up?

Should be plenty! Antec is apparently pretty conservative with their ratings.

    cpu overheats

You could get a better heatsink for your processor and apply some arctic silver 5 (AS5) thermal compound rather than the stock stuff.

    alright, psu to mobo?

With the lanparty, use ALL 4 connectors for maximum stability!!!! (the 2 shown in the pic, plus the molex and fdd connectors between the cpu and top pci-e slot)

What do think of this set-up?

I've got a very similar setup. A few questions: I'm not sure that your PSU is a 24-pin model (I see no mention of ATX2.X on the antec website, so I'd guess it's not). However, I do see that it does NOT have the 6-pin video card connector. I don't think you need it for the x800xl, but you...

Drivers? Uhhh, don't they all just use nvidia's drivers?

    Case Fans? 80mm or 120mm??

Good 120mm fans are pretty quiet. 120mm front and back is your best bet. 80mm side intake might be a good idea too if your cpu is getting toasty (assuming the intake is pointing at your cpu). Lots of 80 mm fans are going to make your computer sound like a jet engine, and won't really be a...

Give us your full system specs, like in Him's signature. That may make it easier to troubleshoot.

Need to reformat but many problems doing it

It is my understanding that you have to make a Windows CD a bootable CD when you burn it. AFAIF, just setting your CD-ROM to be the first boot device is insufficient. Am I mistaken?

    Help with this pc build

Hacp: sorry, mind was elsewhere with the ram, but my point still stands. Go to the DFI forums and research your ram thoroughly. It is absolutely key to a decent overclock with the DFI boards (which is the first thing the DFI techs will tell you). As for the PSU, you don't need HUGE...

    Help with this pc build

Hacp: I might recommend some different RAM, but talk to some of the guys on the DFI boards to be sure. It seems to me that a lot of people are having some issues with the Corsair RAM. Personally, I'd suggest some OCZ stuff, plat. rev.2 is what I'm running, and it is crazy good.
