    Mounting a Dead Hard Drive

Ok! I've got the file system hooked up to a linux machine that doesn't have internet yet so I can't copy the output :( sudo fdisk -l shows me 6 paritions, 2 HPFS, 1 extended, 1 linux swap, and 1 linux. The largest is sda3, extended, and it's definitely not the second largest ntfs/hpfs...

    Mounting a Dead Hard Drive

Hi there - Looking for some advice. I recently pulled a Mac hard drive out of my old 2006 iMac with the help of a friend. I think the hard drive is "dead", but I was wondering if anyone here could provide me with some options for mounting it and attempting to get the data off. The old iMac...

    Help! Recover Files!

My Asus 1005HA EeePc has no display! Asus said they'd take a look at it, but that they aren't responsible for lost data. My senior research project is on there. What specific tools do I need and what specific steps can I take to copy my hard drive and save this information? I need my research...

    ready to buy, what next?

Okay, on second that I think that I'm at like a $450-$550 max on additional parts. :\ I'm in college, I'm poor. And also I should mention, I had two hard drives - one to run fedora or ubuntu and one for vista: I don't know if that changes size. What's the benefit/detriment of the Phenom II...

    How to determine memory type?

I've got a Hewlett-Packard 2710P with awful memory. Can I buy any old 4GB memory kit - or do I have to be careful of compatibility? How do you you go about determining this? Thanks everyone for teaching me all of this stuff. I ask a lot of questions on this forum, but I love learning it all.

    Building my First PC

    Dead or Alive?

So I took it to the tech guys at my school, who by the way offered to let me volunteer and learn! :) They couldn't fix it, but told me to try the problem here with a few more details. They hooked it up to a monitor again, and somehow got it to boot up - not sure how. The settings were on LCD...
