    E4600 with a Radeon HD 5870?

Alright, So my current computer is a piece of garbage. I'm well aware of that. I built it in a hurry on a super tight budget almost two years ago. But the time has come that I have no choice but to upgrade the video card. I'm wanting to put the 5870 in my existing build, and then just swap it...

Fallout 3 Crash to desktop - solution here

Alright, so i've tried everything that everybody suggested in here. From uninstalling FFDshow, to adding fallout3.exe to the exceptions list, installing a non-beta of the .net framework. Updated video drivers, lowered graphics settings. All that. None of it worked. However, I did find something...

    Restart over internet?

Thanks for your fast reply. Through that, I was able to find out that remote desktop would in fact, not work on a windows 2000 professional machine. Though it will on a win2k server machine. Good to know, but it didn't help me. Looking into realvnc, I realised that it was pay software. I'm...

    Restart over internet?

Ok, so I'm going to be going away for a trip soon, but want to keep one of my servers online while I'm away. However, I know that problems do arise from time to time, so I want to be able to restart the server over the internet. The machine's currently running windows 2000 if that makes any...

    Access Point or Bridge?

A wireless router is just a wired router with an access point built in. You can purchace the access point part of it seperatly, but there's really no point these days. A bridge is a device that connects to a wireless network and provides wired internet to any and all devices that are wired to...

    someone else's wireless router

It's actually dependant on where you live. I know that in canada, an unsecured network is considered fair game. The states is a bit more harsh. You should really look up whatever laws your country has on the subject.

    Access Point or Bridge?

My brother wanted this exact same setup when he moved away. So I did all the research for him, and even set it up for him. What we did, was used a wireless bridge. However, all the bridges out there kind of sucked. So we bought a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router, and uploaded the DD-WRT custom...

    A network cable is unpluged...

Yeah, if you want to connect one computer to another computer, you're going to need to get a crossover cable.

    Wireless networking issues

Wired cards usually don't get many updates. But wireless is a different story. Each vendor has their own options that they like to tweak. And as a result, things don't work together as well as they should. So they release updates to fix their own mistakes. Happened all the time when 802.11g...

    wire network

If you've already put in the password once, it saves it on your computer. Any new users to the network would be required to input the WEP key. Either that, or you're not connecting to the right network. Or you just didn't set up security correctly.

internet wont work but msn does

Sounds like a DNS issue. start > run > services.msc Verify that the DNS client service is started. You can also try "ipconfig /flushdns" from command prompt. Of course, you could always just try a system restore to back before the problem was happening.

    Netgear DG834 IP Address changing

Ok...That's quite strange. It should be able to, as I've done it many, many times. Although, granted, I've never done it on a buffalo airstation. However, that manual you posted, helped immensly. It appears that this airstation of yours has a switch on the bottom of it that changes the...

    Netgear DG834 IP Address changing

Alright, if you've changed the IP WAN IP of the airstation, and can no longer connect, there's a good chance you changed the IP of the LAN as well. In order to connect again, you'd need to go to the new address you put in, which should be 192.168.0.2 if you followed my suggestion from before...

    getting internet to another room

Well, If you've already got a wireless router, then all you need is a wireless card. There are plenty availible, but I don't really have a favorite. That bluetooth thing you linked to, I wouldn't reccomend. Bluetooth isn't really good for internet. There's also the option of getting a wireless...

Comcast told me they cannot change my IP

Yeah, you're not going to be able to change your IP by calling your provider, unless you get them to switch you to a static IP package. And those cost a good deal more money usually. And it won't help with your ping problems at all. For that, you have to do a whack of troubleshooting on your...
