    Zalman 7000 CPU fan...

Is it compatible with the Gigabyte P35 D3SR mobo? I see that the mobo has a 4 pin header while the Zalman only has a 3 pin plug.

Need help with system specs ...

Here's what I have: Gigabyte P35 D3SR C2D E4400 800 FSB ADATA PC6400 DDR2 800 2 GB kit Just to be clear, without overclocking, if I replace the E4400 with a E6550 that has a 1333 FSB, and leave the RAM alone, will my rig be running at the faster FSB speed, or will my RAM create a...

Need help with system specs ...

The gigabyte manual lists 1333/1066/800 FSB. Are those not all reachable at stock speeds depending on the other components you use? It also list support for DDR2 1066/800/667. I have an e4400 and ADATA PC6400 RAM. I'm just wondering if I should return these and get ones with faster FSB's...

Need help with system specs ...

If I want to run my gigabyte p35 D3SR at 1333 FSB, do I have to have a CPU and RAM with the same FSB? I don't plan on overclocking right now. I just want to know how this works. I was thinking of getting the E6550 CPU, but I'm stumped on the RAM. I don't want to stick in 800 FSB RAM and...

    Signs of a defective motherboard?

I just ordered a Gigabyte P35 D3SR mobo and decided to use my Zalman 7000 CPU fan. After hooking everything up and booting up, I noticed that the CPU fan doesn't start spinning for about 2 seconds after I push the power button. Is this normal with this board. My Zalman fan only has a 3 pin...

    Question about compatability?

Holy Cow! What can I do?

Since you have the CD, a clean reformat should be easy. Boot up your computer and get into bios. Change the boot order so your CD-rom is your first boot device. Save changes and exit, and when you reboot, make sure the CD is in the drive. When your system reboots, you'll get a message to...

Is it smart to have 2gb ram in your laptop?

Whether or not they say dual channel on them, or are sold together is really irrelevant. It's your computer that has to support dual channel for it to function that way. Any ram will run in dual channel if the motherboard supports it.

    upgrading a dell computer

One problem he might have is his current 450 mhz processor is probably the old type of slot processor. I just recently sold my old PIII 450 compaq and it used this slot processor as well, and I believe the 1.0 Ghz PIII switched over to socket type processors, which means he probably will need a...

    Custom or Company?

Definitely build your own if it's something that you feel comfortable doing. Even if you don't, you can choose your custom parts and have them assembled for you at monarch computers. they do a real nice job and don't charge an arm and a leg for putting it all together.

    newbie - Which AMD processor?

While ASUS makes great mobos, I've heard a lot of people here complain that they are very buggy with AMD processors. They seem to work much better with Intel platforms. The PCI-e 1x slots are for add on cards like modems, soundcards, etc. It's more of a future thing, cause I don't believe...

    finishing my computer

Probably the CPU, unless you decide on a 6800GT video card. You can get the 6600GT eVGA for $169 at newegg, whereas, the A64 3200+ runs around $190.

    finishing my computer

He probably means that you can get the parts that come with the barebones kit for a better price by buying them individually and assembliing them yourself.
