Thanks for the response. I was really on the fence about whether to get another laptop or settle for a desktop; I think that, given my budget, I'll go for a desktop since I already have a few components that'll let me buy better parts and can upgrade it as needed. Cheers

It will make them look better and more accurate for sure in the detail. I'd say yes, but the loading and editing of large video files are based more on ram. Regardless, I see no reason why a 6800 wouldn't be able to do the trick.

Limewire does have spyware, but it's nothing major, nor malicious. As for the files... just be smart with what you download. You CANNOT get viruses from .jpg images, .mpegs, .wav, etc.... most music and video and image files. However if you see somethin that can be extracted- ie, .zip and .exe...

It doesn't sound like a psu problem.... To me it sounds like, as others have said, mobo or RAM. Though if you're convinced that your ram is all good and compatable, there's a chance you just got a faulty mobo.

I think they'll get a bit less of a res and a slightly smaller fps but i don't think it's noticeable.
