I thought that may have been the case... however... the case has the little hold ups so it doesn't touch against the back. Do you really think a motherboard can short so fast like that? I mean I literally walked out and in 5 minutes it went down.

Just got a PC that was working fine as I was installing Windows on it. Left the room... came back and the thing isn't turning on any more. No beeps... The fans wont turn on also... I changed the PSU to check and nothing... changed the cable... and nothing... Seriously... WTF is going on? lol

Like the quote says... that pretty much just sounds like the fan is a bit loose. No biggie... but be careful not over work the card if you can't fix it meanwhile. You don't want to burn out the card. 9800's are know to heat up like a mother.

Well... seems like the RAM is fine. You mentioned it could be a driver issue... I know with SATA drives when they first came out you had to manually install the third party drivers back in the good old xp days... but this is vista... SATA drivers shouldn't been an issue.

So long story short, I was reformatting a laptop that had a lot of spy ware and was running extremely slow. I popped in the vista CD... installation went fine... But when Vista tries to boot up I get the blue screen of death and the process repeats. So I ran Boot N Nuke to wipe the hard drive...

This could be 2 things. Some fan that's just making noise... or most likely your hard drive when it shuts down. When hard drives get old over the years it kind of becomes like a bicycled that has it's chains rusty and un-oiled. All that spinning tends to cause noise later on and "brrrrp" you...
