Future proofing is an oxymoron. Don't blink, because i7 will become "old" within a year. Core 2 Quad 3.0ghz is still a very respectable processor, and with the savings, you can buy a larger monitor. The only times you may notice a difference, is if you're doing some hardcore encoding.

Buy mine it's a one year old setup and is half as much as your budget ;) if you want to build, some good ones were posted above

Graphically it's hideous. It looks like they scanned in some poor artwork and threw on "EVGA 8800GTS". Even I could come up with something better with PS in a few minutes. As said, save your ~$75-100 and get a 8800GT. Runs cooler, and easily catches up to GTX speeds .. oh, and isn't FUGLY...
