First boot into Safe Mode, run the PC for a bit and see if the problem persists. If it does not, then that will narrow down which driver could be causing the problem. If it does persisit, chec the Windows Event Log, that should poiint you towards the device causing the problem.

I agree with hercules, modems are a dime a dozen, defintely try a re-install first, if that doesn't work don't pull your hair out, just buy a new one.

Happens to me too, I have to shut it down once in a while to get online, but once I'm online I can turn it back on and browse no problem.

You can't just burn the .ISO file like a regular data file, you need to use .ISO burning feature that comes with most burning software. If you don't have it, I use the free version of deepburner (www.deepburner.com). It has ISO burning capability, easy and free :)

In me experience, sometimes it works fine, but sometimes it doesn't. I always recommend using the same kind to get the best performance out of it and to avoid strange issues that can arise.

your right, I missed that on the original read. Can you get into your BIOS, it may be set to boot from your CD drive first, which would exlplain the "press any key to boot" thing. Change your boot order to boot from your hdd first.

Either that or for probably $10.00 at Staples you can get a USB to RJ-45 converter, (you would need 2) and then buy a CAT5 crossover cable.
