    Kernel BSOD

Anyone? Crysis itself is unplayable. Minutes into a game the hard drive turns off, but I don't get a bsod, the game just freezes for several seconds and then continues. The hard drive turns off every 30 seconds or less. Please help, any suggestions at all would help. Should I replace my...

    Kernel BSOD

I just tried rolling back my SATA drivers, so instead of using the ones included in the 680i drivers installer I'm using the ones included in windows xp. It is very interesting actually. I was running the crysis cpu benchmark for about an hour and I woke up to hear my hard drive turning off...

    Kernel BSOD

It did not help. I had a Kernel_stack_inpage_error when I woke up this morning. I had set it to run the crysis cpu benchmark all night long. So, should I purchase a new hard drive or motherboard first?

    Kernel BSOD

This last install I tried disconnecting the other drive, single partition, complete new install after 3 hard drive overwrites (DBAN DoD - with no errors). When looking at new BIOS I think I updated them wrong last time (I didn't restore to defaults after update) so I will try again after...

    Kernel BSOD

Seems it'd have to be sata controller, I've tried replacing the cables, and ports on the mobo to no avail. hmm... there does seem to be a BIOS update, with an ominous "Fix for SATA disk drives" EDIT: When I looked again at the BIOS page it seems the "fix for SATA disk drives" was included in...

    Kernel BSOD

I used DBAN to nuke them and the windows install disk to rebuild the partitions when reinstalling xp. Recently I ran the Western Digital diagnostic program or whatever, and fixed some bad sectors/etc. but it did no good. I don't know how many times I ran chkdisk on them, rarely finding errors...

    Kernel BSOD

I built my computer with help from people at this site last year (specs in sig). I have had this BSOD problem since almost the very beginning (oh, I'm running win. xp sp2 32bit). It has come and gone, making me thing I fixed it. I get 2 different types of BSOD's a KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR...

    Partition Creation

a newb question: can I use the freeware cute partition manager to create a hardrive partition without losing my OS/Programs/Data or will the partition overwrite some of it? Is there any freeware/shareware utility that can do this?

    FTP setup

I have the first setup. They can both detect each other in look@lan only when they both are running look@lan... but even now that they can detect each other the ftp client and server still can't communicate. Question: In l@l there was a hierarchical network view, it showed that the 2 wireless...

    FTP setup

Thanks a ton for all the help, I understand ftp much better now, but I still have 2 more questions... I still can't get it working. I downloaded look@lan for my client and server, and for some reason they both detected themselves, the router and the computers that are hardwired to the router...

    FTP setup

here come the newb questions: How do I tell the name of the server? Is it just the IP for the client, do I enter the internal IP within the LAN? or Do I enter the external IP (the one all the computers in my LAN share) and since I set the router to forward port 21 it'll automatically go to the...
