    Powerful Raspberry Pi/Arduino Alternative

Not particularly endorsing this, just was brought to my attention, so have a look and see if it suits: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/udoo/udoo-x86-the-most-powerful-maker-board-ever Appears to be able to run android, with arduino like I/O connected to main computer through internal USB.

    New build for gaming.

Just to say, I finally found some time to put it all together. Every seemed to work first time, which was nice. Lovely cool temperatures with the TRUE120 actually, it seems cooler than the q6600 was, but that may just be the weather. One of the USB2.0 jacks seems broken, but really not worth the...

    New build for gaming.

Yeah the tendency is always to get more than you need; I doubt I'll make use of USB 3.1 beyond the odd USB drive transfer of large files; I have a lot of peripherals, but they'd probably all be just as happy on 1.1; it's the number of physical plugs more than anything else, and not requiring...

    New build for gaming.

Ahh so... Part of the reason the Asus one I suggested is so expensive is that their lower end boards are all very lacking in I/O (which sort of backs up your impressions); and what with what you guys are saying about where ASUS and gigabyte are of recent, perhaps I should shed my fears. By the...

    New build for gaming.

Thanks; are they good? I'm just an old fogey who's not really heard of them, so prefer to stay away. I guess I 'trust' ASUS and gigabyte, not because their RMA sounds any good at all, just I've had a lot of their stuff before and been happy. Old habits die hard.. Ahh really, the TRUE is not so...

    New build for gaming.

Hi, I haven't visited for years, but since the kind people here set me up with a nice P35/Q6600 build that's lasted for the better part of 10 years, I figured I'd post ideas for essentially a new build; what I'm playing now is just too CPU limited to play. Usage: gaming mainly. I plan to have...

Old rig kaput, need to upgrade

RIghty, was putting it off, but computer finally went bsod and crashed from XP, and now won't boot: It posts fine, and I can get into the BIOS, but once it gets to 'checking NVRAM', it hangs and I don't get the usual second beep. It won't go as far as the OpenSUSE boot option menu, so I can't...

Old rig kaput, need to upgrade

Thanks, not bad price wise.. I'd love to go further and go Phenom or i*, but to be honest, the computer is as powerful as I need it, and I bought it with the idea of not needing to touch it for years- which I wouldn't if it didn't break Budget really comes down to 'how much will it cost?' I...

Old rig kaput, need to upgrade

Hi there, My computer seems to finally have died, its a problem with and old P5K getting tired of PC2-6400 memory. Essentially it won't POST anymore, the original problem can be seen HERE OK, so the deal is, I'm happy with this computer's performance, and would happy to buy the same components...

    Hard drive replacement

Right, an update, I've installed windows on the new HD, and need to start the slow process of getting everything installed. Now as for the programmes on the partition of the old disk: is it possible to reuse them without re-installing? That partition is fine, not at all fragmented, its just...

    I REALLY need some input!!

right the next thing would be to connect your MOBO up and manually short the 'power switch' pins together for a second or so... I just touch a phillips screwdriver between the pins. These are the pins on your mobo that connect up to the power switch on your case. If that isn't working... dunno...

    I REALLY need some input!!

Well #1, make sure the power and reset buttons are connected properly! How are your fans plugged in? If its direct to PSU, you could unplug the MOBO power plugs, and short the power on pin to a ground pin and see if the fans spin up... and therefore if your PSU is working... Given the light(s...

    New PC = Getting Shocked!

On a more general note you should never ever use any appliance, let alone a computer (full of expensive, delicate parts), without proper grounding. Ever. .com. Any short in the appliance could have severe consequences. Get that plug changed!
